I have revisited this video many many times when I need a little guidance and small reminders to focus. I grew up in the woods shooting archery and being a wild child. Since I moved into a small city 4 years ago I have lost touch with my flow and archery itself. Thank you for this It’s helps me.

I’ve been working on a homemade MRE that starts with Pemmican and Hard Tack along with a pouch of ingredients to make Rubaboo or chili or other foods. This could be a third option. It also occurs to me that, should you add it when the temperature of the mixture is cool enough, you could add honey to the mix for a long lasting sweetener. Just a thought.

Ullapool is one of the few places I've stayed during my roundtrip through the highlands. Very fond memories of walking the pebble beach there with my late mother, watching the ferry come in. Talking to a local working on his boat who had a bordercollie puppy just like we used to have as a kid. Fond memories even though we stayed there only one night.

for example if all the menfolk were off to war and the women had no men to help, the women HAD to do mens work to get by till sons were older or they remarried if able or husbands/sons/brothers came home.

When we romanticize about the past, we tend to forget about the smells from using urine and poop for so much. Now we are obsessed with smelling good.

Enjoy these videos, even though I feel like a slacker, sitting on my couch and watching on my cell phone. Would I survive without the conveniences I've grown up with and depend on? Hope I don't have to find out.

I'm a Lowland Scot. Very interesting to hear about my Highland counterparts from years gone by. I can spin, weave and knit. I bake bread also. Come the apocalypse I'll hopefully be able to barter.

one of the joys of living in a 250 year old house is that the original family here put the 4 survival principles first almost as the cornerstone was laid. during long term power outages (even if the generator wasn't working) we stay comfortable because of easy access to flowing water, fireplaces/woodstove. We do get very severe weather here, and we never take modern convenience for granted. At the same time, The old methods are not all that difficult if you just take the time to think your way through them. Love the videos and your insights. thank you

Ms. Mary, I'm in Texas. I'm what people around here call "Hick" or "Redneck". But in the past couple years I waded into Historical Sewing. ...which took me in all sorts of directions! I'm trying to hone my hand sewing skills, using what I've learned from historical practices in modern ways. I'm learning to forage on my own several acres. I'm learning to keep my animals without having to buy commercial feed. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I think I'd like to spend some time with you, M'am ... as long as I could keep up with you and not be a nuisance!
